Covia Canada Ltd Blue Mountain Operations Methuen Nepheline Syenite SO RGP staff (RG, DG and summer student) joined University of Waterloo's GeoX program on a tour of Covia's Blue Mountain operations. The entire property was visited, included the inactive Nephton site and tailings, the Craig pit and magnetite waste pile, and the Blue Mountain quarry. Representative samples of the nepheline ore and the magnetite waste rock were collected.
Upper Canada Stone Company Limited Clarence Quarry and Madoc Terrazzo Plant Madoc Aggregate, Limestone (Building Stone) SO RGP staff (RG, DG and summer student) joined University of Waterloo's GeoX program on a tour of the Clarence Quarry and Madoc Terrazzo Plant. The Clarence Quarry is the source of the Chocolate and Mocha dimension stone products and aggregates. Samples from the quarry have been collected. The terrazzo plant crushes limestone and marble from local quarries owned by Upper Canada Stone as well as 4 types of glass.

Richardson Gold Mine Madoc Gold The historic Richardson gold mine was visited by the SO DG, RG, and SEO student, guided by K. Payne. The various shafts, pits and workings were examined. The ruins of the historical mine processing plant (18 299674mE, 4940430mN) were visited as well. The property is on private land and is no longer open to the public, but many hazards remain insufficiently mitigated.
Triana Occurrence Tudor Copper, Nickel Visited by the SO DG and DGA. Trail access and the location of historical pits and trenches were located using LiDAR. Adjacent to the workings, one waste pile of mineralized, altered gabbro was located and sampled. Due to blowdown and overgrowth from recent storms in the area, the property is incredibly difficult to access, and the workings are almost completely obscured. Any further work would require brush clearing and trail cutting.
Wallbridge Iron Mine Madoc Iron Site investigation by Mine Rehab and SO RGP Tweed to determine rehab priority level. Site is completely filled in and flat. No evidence of a pit is left.
Barryvale Occurrence Blithfield Iron, Magnetite, Titanium Occurrence is accessible in a roadcut along the K&P Trail, south of Barryvale. Magnetite-ilmenite mineralization within the Jamieson diorite was sampled. Road access to other parts of the intrusion was explored as well.
